Following a two-year development and design process, Monoware is pleased to announce the launch of the highly-anticipated Barista collection.

Meticulously designed to aid in creating the perfect coffee experience for both industry professionals and aspiring home brewers, the new coffeeware collection includes two styles – the Cafe Cup and the Savour Cup. The Cafe Cup is a traditional shape with a handle designed to fit perfectly in your hand, while the Savour Cup is a minimalist handle-less cup for longer sipping moments. Matching saucers complete the collection, which are available separately.

Expertly sized, the full range consists of an Espresso Cup, a Flat White Cup, a Cappuccino Cup and a Filter Cup, offering versatility for every coffee aficionado. Staying true to Monoware’s ethos, every detail has been carefully considered to enhance the whole journey from pouring to drinking; not only does each cup offer the optimum size for its respective hot beverage, but the soft curves inside are designed to ensure a smoother drink and flawless latte art with every pour.

Daniel Baer, Founder of Monoware comments: “Most of us have a favourite cup that we use daily, but how often do we pause to truly analyse it? When we do, we might notice it’s too heavy in the hand, the rim is too sharp, or the handle is too small to hold comfortably. These are the details we carefully consider when refining and elevating a simple, everyday object. The Barista Collection proved particularly complex, as we had to meet the specific requirements of an industry dedicated to mastering the art of extracting the best brew from a meticulously sourced and highly valued ingredient.”

In contrast to brands that favour delicate porcelain, the Barista collection follows the brand’s signature style and is crafted from premium stoneware, providing superb heat retention and exceptional durability. This combination ensures a long-lasting, high-performance coffee experience for both professionals at work and passionate coffee lovers at home.

Building on the success of the Everyday Mug – the brand’s long-standing bestseller – the Barista collection delivers a fresh and distinctive look that effortlessly complements design-driven hospitality businesses and modern homes, setting a new standard for coffeeware. Combining contemporary minimalist aesthetics with subtle references to classic forms the new range is offered across the brand’s distinct palette of Chalk, Pebble and Slate, each glaze pairing perfectly with both light and dark roasts. Designed in collaboration with revered UK baristas, the new collection delivers timeless appeal and high functionality, enhancing everyone’s daily coffee rituals.

Daniel comments: “The way coffee tastes is shaped by more than just the beans—it’s influenced by the design of the cup itself. From the rim thickness to the glaze colour, every detail enhances the flavour. Bright colours can distract from the sensory experience, overpowering the coffee’s natural aromas. While white is an all-time classic, our earthy tones like Pebble and Slate perfectly complement both light and dark roasts, creating a balanced aesthetic that enhances the sensory experience.”

Monoware collections:

– Core ceramics: dinner and side plates, grain and cereal bowls, everyday mugs, serving platters, pitchers and serving sets.
– Dinner sets: 4-piece, 12-piece, 16-piece and 20-piece table sets. Each set includes dinner and side plates, together with grain and cereal bowls.
– Bundles: core collection pieces as sets of 4, including everyday mugs, dinner and side plates, as well as cereal and grain bowls.
– Glassware: strong, yet thin and light tumblers, made in Japan by Toyo Sasaki Glass.
– Small batch tabletop essentials: candle holders, bottle vases and pestle & mortar, all designed by Ned Davies, founder of Helgate Pottery Studio in Norwich and bud vases, designed by Scottish ceramicist Cara Guthrie.
– Made-to-order line of limited edition pieces: XL bottle vase and 5-piece nesting bowl set, both designed by Ned Davies, founder of Helgate Pottery Studio.
– Barista collection: an expertly-sized range of coffee cups designed for every type of hot drink, offered in two styles – the classic cafe cup and the minimalist savour cup.

Sustainability:

In a bid to reduce environmental impact, Monoware’s tableware is created in a single firing system and the chosen clay has been designed to vitrify at a much lower temperature than most other stoneware on the market: this innovative approach saves a considerable amount of energy in the making process, whilst not compromising on product quality. In addition, all custom packaging is recyclable, biodegradable and responsibly sourced to minimise waste.
